Suitable for small and large pets

As you have been able to read at the top of the page, animals possess an endocannabinoid system just like humans, which means cannabis and cannabis-derived products like THC- and CBD oil can be suitable for pets and other animals. A drawback however is that animals are not good at showing how they feel or what results the products have. After consuming a THC-rich oil for instance the animal can most assuredly feel stoned. An animal however cannot comprehend what is happening to it and this could make it feel bad or even very anxious.

No unwanted psychoactive effect after use

We therefore always recommend with animals, both big and small, to start with CBD oil. This cannabinoid, contrary to THC, is not psychoactive which means a stoned or high feeling is definitely out of the question. Here it holds as well that because the animal cannot indicate very well how the product is effecting him or her, it is important to start off with a low percentage and a low dosage.

Observe pets during the use of CBD oil

Despite the fact that CBD oil is known as an utmost reliable product without nasty side effects, it is at all times recommendable to observe the animal well. Nausea and dizzyness for instance are not always easily observable. When the animal does not show any unusual reactions after a few days, the dosage can slowly be raised until the desired result is obtained.

Weight is not always indicative for the right dosage of CBD

Regularly a dosage according to body weight is advised. From experience we have however all too often noted that the weight of the animal does not always have to be important in determining the correct dosage. Many other factors can influence the effectiveness. So for instance a dog of 5 kilos might need a higher dosage of CBD oil than a dog with a weight of 40 kilos. It is therefore important to judge each situation individually and adjust the dosage according to your own insight.
